Group management

Gjensidige's group management consists of 10 highly experienced professionals with various educational background and work experience from both Gjensidige and other companies. Apart from the CEO, the members of the group management represent either one of the business areas, or one of the administrative divisions.

 

Helge Leiro Baastad

CEO
Helge Leiro Baastad (1960) has been the CEO of Gjensidige since 2003. He is s member of the board of Finance Norway, (the Norwegian federation for banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions and Ungt Entreprenørskap (Junior Achievement young enterprise Norway). 

Baastad joined the company in 1998 as manager of the retail segment and in 2000 was appointed executive vice president responsible for group marketing and support functions. He has previously held various senior management positions with Jordan AS and Denofa Lilleborg Fabrikker. Baastad holds a degree from the Norwegian School of Economics based on a four year program in economics and business administration consisting of three years at bachelor/undergraduate level and one year at master/graduate Level.

Jostein Amdal

Executive Vice President, CFO
Jostein Amdal (1965) was named CFO and Executive Vice President for Finance effective 1 October 2016.
 
Amdal joined Gjensidige as Finance Director in 2002 and has since served as Chief Risk Officer and Head of Capital Management and M&A. His previous work experience includes management positions with If, Storebrand and Kværner.

Amdal holds a degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) based on a four year program in economics and business administration consisting of three years at bachelor/undergraduate level and one year at master/graduate level, as well as a "higher degree" based on two years of graduate studies in finance and economics, also at NHH.

Lars G. Bjerklund

Executive Vice President, Commercial
Lars G. Bjerklund (1971) has been Executive Vice President of Commercial in Gjensidige since 1 September 2018.
Bjerklund joined Gjensidige in 2003 and has held various senior management positions in the Group. Most recently, he has held positions as COO for Swedish operations, claims director with responsibility for motor and travel claims in Norway, and was for several years director of the SME and agriculture segment in the Norwegian Commercial division.
Bjerklund holds a Master of Marketing and Management degree from the Norwegian School of Marketing (NMH) and an MBA degree from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).

Aysegül Cin

Executive Vice President, Sweden
Aysegül Cin (1981) has been Executive Vice President, Sweden since 1 September 2018.
Cin joined Gjensidige in 2006 as a trainee. She has held several senior positions in Gjensidige including in the Private, Group Development, Strategy, M&A and Claims divisions. Most recently, she held the position of Director of CRM and Digital Channels in the Commercial division. She holds an MSc in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Karlsruhe University in Germany.

Janne Flessum

Executive Vice President, Communication and Shared Services
Janne Merethe Flessum has been Executive Vice President, Communication and Shared Services since 1. March 2018. She joined Gjensidige in 2011 as Head of Investor Relations, and from 2016 Flessum also assumed responsibility for M&A and Capital Management.

She has previously held positions as investment analyst and portfolio manager in Orkla, corporate finance advisor in Kreditkassen and auditor in Coopers and Lybrand.

Flessum holds a degree from the Norwegian Business School (BI) based on a four-year program in economics and business administration consisting of three years at bachelor/undergraduate level and one year at master/graduate level.

René Fløystøl

Executive Vice President, Private
Fløystøl (1981) has been Executive Vice President of Private in Gjensidige since 1 June 2020.

Fløystøl joined Gjensidige in 2011 and has held various senior management positions in the Group, most recently the position as head of Digitalization and Development in Private.

Fløystøl holds a degree from BI Norwegian Business School based on a four year program in economics and business administration consisting of three years at bachelor/undergraduate level and one year at master/graduate Level.

Mats C. Gottschalk

Executive Vice President, Denmark
Mats Gottschalk (1977) has been Executive Vice President of the Denmark segment in Gjensidige since 1. september 2018.

Gottscalk joined Gjensidige in 2011as responsible for strategy and M&A. He  was until 31 august  head of the Commercial segment.

He was previously  executive director in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs International and he has held various positions in the investment banking division at J.P. Morgan in London. He holds an MSc in industrial economics and technology management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the University of St. Gallen.

Catharina Hellerud

Executive Vice President, Analytics, Product and Price
Catharina Hellerud (1968) has been Executive Vice President for Analytics,  Product and Price from 2016.

Hellerud joined Gjensidige as Head of IR in 2007 and was CFO in the period from 2011 until 2016. She has previously held various positions at among other things the Oslo Stock Exchange and as an auditor in Ernst & Young. Hellerud is a state authorized public accountant from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH), and holds an Master of General Business from BI - Norwegian Business School.

Jørgen Ringdal

Executive Vice President, Organization and HR
Jørgen Ringdal (1960) has been Executive Vice President of Organization and HR since 1 March 2018.

Ringdal joined Gjensidige in 1996, and has held various executive vice president positions within the group, including executive vice president group staff and general services and economics/ finance. Ringdal has previously held various senior management positions among others in Norges Bank (the central bank) and KPMG. He is a state authorized Public accountant and holds a graduate from the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH).

Tor Erik Silset

Executive Vice President, Technology and Infrastructure

Tor Erik Silset (1976) has been Executive Vice President of Technology and Infrastructure since 1. juni 2020.

Silset joined Gjensidige in 2005 and has held various senior management positions in the Group, most recently as head of Property Liability Nordic and country manager for the Analytics, Product and Price division in Denmark.

Silset holds a degree from BI Norwegian Business School based on a four year program in economics and business administration consisting of three years at bachelor/undergraduate level and one year at master/graduate Level.
